In the belt conveyor
operation system, the importance of the tensioning device is mainly reflected in the following aspects.
(1) Make the separation point between the conveyor belt and the rolling drum have appropriate tension and friction to prevent the belt from slipping.
The traction force of the belt conveyor comes from the friction between the belt and the driving drum, the difference between the tension generated at the point of meeting and the point of separation. If the tension at the separation point is insufficient, the friction between the belt and the roller becomes smaller, not enough to make the belt conveyor run, the belt will slip at the separation point.
Therefore, in order to ensure the stable operation of the belt, the tensioning device ensures that sufficient tension is provided at the separation point, so that the belt conveyor can get the friction required for stable operation.
(2) to make the conveyor with a suitable drape.
This requires a tensioning device to create the right amount of tension at various points in the belt. The overhang of the belt between the rollers will lead to the deviation of the material and the belt and increase the running resistance.
(3) In the unstable condition, the tensioning device will adjust the tension.
Unstable conditions mainly refer to the start, stop and load weight changes. When starting, the belt needs more traction, the tensioning device makes the separation at the point of greater tension, so as to get the required traction; When stopping, the required traction force is small, and the tension device needs to be adjusted to prevent the failure of the belt conveyor; When the load weight changes, the tension will change, and the tensioning device needs to be adjusted in time to make the tension get a new balance.
(4) Due to the characteristics of the belt material, the belt will automatically extend after the use time reaches a certain number of years, and the tensioning device can compensate for the elongation brought by the belt itself.
When the problem occurs at the joint of the belt conveyor, it is necessary to redo the cut head, which can be solved by relaxing the tensioning device and using more than one part of the margin.
