The transmission power of the belt conveyor
comes from the friction between the belt and the driving drum. If the friction is too small, the belt may slip, so the belt conveyor belt tension directly affects its stable operation. Belt conveyor in the operation process is bound to be a variety of resistance, generally, according to the nature of resistance, can be divided into uniform resistance and concentrated resistance. The uniform distribution resistance mainly includes: the deformation resistance of the conveyor belt, the compression resistance of the conveyor belt on the idler, and the resistance of the idler during operation. Concentrated resistance mainly includes: the resistance of the reversing drum, the unloading resistance of the conveyor belt, the resistance of the charging point, the resistance of the cleaner and so on.
In the belt conveyor running system, the importance of the tension device is mainly reflected in the following aspects.
(1) Make the separation point between the conveyor belt and the pulley have proper tension and friction to prevent the belt from slipping.
The traction of the belt conveyor comes from the friction between the belt and the driving drum, the difference between the tension generated at the point of encounter and the point of separation. If the tension at the separation point is insufficient, the friction between the belt and the idler roller becomes smaller, which is not enough to make the belt conveyor run, and the belt will slip at the separation point. so, in order to make the belt can run stably, the tensioning device to ensure that the separation point provides enough tension, so that the belt conveyor to get stable operation of the friction required.
(2) to make the conveyor with a suitable overhang.
This requires tensioners to create the proper tension at various points on the belt. Belt overhang between rollers will lead to material, belt deviation and increase the running resistance.
(3) In unstable conditions, the tensioner adjusts the tension.
Unsteady conditions mainly refer to the conditions of starting, stopping and load weight changes. When starting, the belt needs more traction, tensioning device makes greater tension at the separation, so as to get the required traction; When stopped, the required traction force is small, the tension device needs to adjust the tension, in order to prevent the failure of the belt conveyor; When the load weight changes, the tension force will also change, and the tension device needs to be adjusted in time to achieve a new balance of the tension force.
(4) Due to the characteristics of the belt material, the belt will automatically elongate after a certain number of years of use, and the tensioning device can compensate for the elongation caused by the belt itself. When the problem occurs at the belt conveyor joint, it is necessary to redo the truncation, which can be solved by relaxing the tensioning device and using more than one part of the margin.
